Everybody likes it when there is beef but I don’t feed into that, it is a waste of so much energy – Efya

Ghanaian songstress, Efya, has always been one to rise above the drama and controversy that sometimes surrounds the entertainment industry.

In a recent interview on the Ladies Circle, she shared her philosophy of not feeding into negativity and staying focused on her passions, like farming.

“Everybody likes it when there is beef but I don’t feed into that, it is a waste of so much energy, I could be farming, it’s something I’m interested in,” she told the hosts

The multitalented underscored the importance of not paying attention to baseless rumours and energy that does not uplift.

“So I don’t pay attention to the controversy so you are talking to yourself. This is something I’ve learnt over time,” she shared.

According to the “Super Super” hitmaker, throughout her career, she has faced her fair share of rumours and criticisms from people who may not have a full understanding of her experiences and journey.

“When I was younger, a lot of people will say things about me that they don’t know anything about. A lot of people will talk in a certain way not knowing what I’ve been through,” she disclosed.

She stated, “Even now sitting here a lot of people still say stuff about me that they don’t know about that is not certified or validated but they talk about it so confidently but at this point especially now I don’t pay attention to it because it does not give me any positive energy and I don’t think anybody should feed into energy that does not make them feel great,”

Born Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, Efya’s commitment to avoiding drama was put to the ultimate test earlier this year when she found herself entangled in a feud with fellow musician Black.

Though initially caught in a tense situation, Efya took the mature path, apologized, and even reconciled with the radio presenter.

She expressed her deep respect for him and regretted her behaviour, explaining that it was a case of mistaken identity.

During an interview on GHone TV, Efya was asked about her knowledge of Blakk Rasta, to which she initially responded that she didn’t know him.

However, when she heard one of his popular songs, ‘Barack Obama,’ she recognized the name and realized it sounded familiar.

Blakk Rasta, who was initially displeased with Efya’s comment about his songs, eventually embraced her change of mind and expressed his love and regard for her.

Despite her efforts to stay away from controversy, Efya has faced allegations of drug use throughout her musical career.

Recently, during the live recording of her new single on Glitch Africa, rumours about her supposed drug use spread across social media and blogs.

These assertions have triggered a mix of comments ranging from concerns about her career to her appearance.
