KOD reacts to Eastwood Anaba rebuke, argues ‘people are stressed, need entertainment’ even in church

Popular media personality and fashion entrepreneur Kofi Okyere Darko, alias KOD, has reacted to Rev Eastwood Anaba’s rebuke to churches giving singing and dancing undue prominence during their services.

In a viral video, the Fountain Gate Chapel founder and leader argued “many of our churches would die” if the singing, drumming, dancing, keyboard playing and the like were taken out.

He worried that while “mosques, chop bars, restaurants, lorry stations” etc stick to their primary purposes, modern churches seem distracted.

In his view, the preaching of the Bible, what Christians call the Word of God, and accompanying signs and wonders like “cleansing lepers, raising the dead, making the cripple walk,” etc, should be the focus of the church.

It should be so, he added, especially in branches of Fountain Gate Chapel in the hinterlands where medical and education interventions are scanty.

KOD, the prestigious 1957 fashion brand’s CEO, shared a different view on Facebook, however.

“People are stressed,” he noted, adding: “They need entertainment.

“Imagine the stress of being alive in this day without entertainment?”

The remark was met with opposing views. For instance, App users Sir-Confidence Akaponi and Fred Antwi Boasiako pointed out to KOD that the church inappropriately assume the purposes of recreational centres.
