Some secrets are best left untold – Akosua Adjepong condemns Yvonne Nelson over her memoir

Veteran Highlife musician, Madam Akosua Adjepong has added her voice to the ongoing debate over actress Yvonne Nelson‘s inclusion of certain individuals in her Memoir, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson.

Yvonne Nelson revealed in her best-selling memoir she and rapper, Sarkodie had an affair which resulted in pregnancy however, she had to terminate it because the rap superstar was not ready to have a baby.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Akosua Adjepong stated that certain secrets are best kept in the closet, questioning the motive behind Yvonne Nelson’s decision to make such private information public.

“Some truths are better kept secret because it will harm you at the end of the day. How would your fans see you now? You cannot associate yourself with some reputable brands for any ambassadorial deals,” he told the newspaper.
The ‘Gye w’ani’ singer believes that Yvonne Nelson and Sarkodie are both influential figures in the industry, so there was no need to bring up this issue in the first place especially now that Yvonne Nelson has a child.

“Yvonne is big and Sarkodie is also big so what is the point in bringing this issue out in the first place. Is it to tarnish both images or what? If she couldn’t bear a child again after the abortion, that could be understandable bringing up this issue up but she has a child now so what is her problem?” she queried.

According to Akosua Adjepong, everyone has their own skeletons in the closet, and it is important to carefully consider what to share with the public for the sake of one’s future and loved ones

She declared, “This is so private that no one should hear of because we all have skeletons in our cupboards”. “

She further questioned if Yvonne sought advice before making such revelations and expressed concern for the potential impact on Sarkodie and his wife Tracy.

“Why should I say anything bad about my past? We all have some history to tell but we need to know what we want to put out there for the sake of our future and our loved ones.”

She added, “Whatever it is, I believe Yvonne should have sought advice before spilling all this and if she did seek counsel too then whoever advised her to do that did not help her.” “How can Sarkodie overcome this? What will be his wife, Tracy’s reaction if she is hearing this for the first time?
She also called on the media to not dwell excessively on the termination of pregnancy and instead focus on the positive aspects of Yvonne Nelson’s book, “I am Not Yvonne Nelson.”

Akosua Adjepong believes that the book contains valuable content that can be discussed beyond the negative aspects.
