Shatta Wale Warns Politicians

Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, aka Shatta Wale, whose vision is to take Ghanaian music to another level, says he would not allow any politician or political party to use his songs and brand for this year’s elections.

Shatta Wale’s brand has in recent times appeared on numerous political platforms which suggest that the reggae/dancehall act is backing their campaign.

The Taking Over hitmaker warned politicians, political parties and activists to stop using his pictures and anything associated with his brand for anything political.

The dancehall artiste, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Shatta Movement Family, in a tweet said “NOTICE: Moving forward no one should use my picture or my brand on any political campaign or platforms,”

The dancehall king said he and his fans would support any individual who was elected by the people of Ghana and therefore could not be pitched with one camp.

“Myself and my loyal fans will support and cooperate with any person who Ghanaians elect as their president,” he said.

In 2016, his song Mahama Paper was widely used by the then ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kakai, another hit song from Shatta Wale, was one of the theme songs for the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
