Music producer nabbed for narcotics possession

A 296-year-old music producer, Ola Adanakan Kabiru, has been arrested for transporting dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspect, who was arrested in a joint operation by the Aflao District police and the mobilisation taskforce of the Ketu South Municipal assembly attempted crossing into Togo with a 28kg gas cylinder.

Volta Regional Police Public Affairs officer, Corporal Prince Dogbartse, in a press release copied to Graphic Showbiz said the suspect’s modus operandi was to cut open the base of the cylinder and reseal it after stocking it with the dried leaves.

He said the suspect in an effort to avoid suspicion sprayed the cylinder to conceal its appearance.

Corporal Dogbartse said “investigations revealed that Kabiru had succeeded in transporting a similar content to Nigeria in October, 2019”.

Kabiru, who appeared before a Ho High Court on December, 4 has been remanded into prison custody and will reappear on December, 16, 2019.

The Volta Regional Command of the Ghana Police in the wake of the arrest cautioned other people “involved in similar illegal enterprises to stop forthwith or risk arrest and prosecution”.

“Criminals must be reminded that the Police is highly vigilant and would stop at nothing in delivering on its mandate.”
