Ebony shouldn’t have died – Sarkodie mourns colleague

Ghana’s fastest rapper and multiple award-winning artiste, Michael Owusu Addo, known by the stage name Sarkodie has opened up on the untimely and unfortunate death of Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng.

In a new music video in honor of the late 21-year-old, Sarkodie sent a message to the authorities to ensure that our roads were made safe by constructing better road systems.

The raper revealed that he was hurt by the demise of the singer and called on all Ghanaians to work together to ensure our roads were safe to use.

He revealed that in his own research, he learnt that road accident killed about 5 people in a day which was not the best. The ‘Dangerous’ singer said Ebony Reigns’ death could have been averted had attention been given to the road on which she, together with 2 others, met their end.

Sarkodie said even though it was important to pay attention to the many prophecies that came our way, it was equally important to ensure that we had good roads so as to prevent road accidents.

He added that being a musician, he had travelled the length and breadth of the country and he could attest to the fact that our road system was not the best and that more work needed to be done to curb the occurrence of road accidents.

Sarkodie is billed to perform today, March 23, at the tribute concert which is being organized by the managers of the late dancehall act.

Ebony died in a gory accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi road while returning to Accra from Sunyani. Her childhood friend and PA, Franky Kuri and one air force official, Francis Atsu Vondee, who posed as a bodyguard also died in the car crash.

The final funeral rites and burial service of the late Dancehall diva Ebony Reigns have been scheduled for March 24, 2018 instead of the first date, March 17. The postponement follows difficulties to secure a big enough venue for the funeral. She will later be buried at the Osu Cemetery after the final funeral rites are held in Accra at the forecourt of the State House.
