Tiemoue Bakayoko tweets ahead of Chelsea medical – but from Manchester

TIEMOUE BAKAYOKO has tweeted to suggest he’s in the UK – but his location is set to Manchester.
Bakayoko is expected to undergo a medical with Chelsea today after a fee was agreed with Monaco yesterday.

Chelsea are set to pay £39.8m for the France midfielder and Antonio Conte wants to pair him N’Golo Kante.

Last week it emerged there was also interest from Manchester United as they tried to hijack another deal following Romelu Lukaku’s transfer.

And now Bakayoko has caused some confusion by seemingly tweeting from Manchester.

“Good Morning” he said with two beefeater emojis and two Union Jack flags, but the tweet was sent from Manchester.

However the 22-year-old midfielder has also posted an Instagram story which shows him in London at a hotel in Chelsea.

He appears to have travelled to London on the Euro Star through the night before arriving in the capital.

Bakayoko is expected to miss the beginning of the season with an injury and his arrival should see Nemanja Matic leave the club.

Nathaniel Chalobah sealed a move to Watford yesterday and Ruben Loftus-Cheek has joined Crystal Palace on loan meaning the Blues could be caught short if Kante of Cesc Fabregas pick up an injury in the opening weeks of the season.

Bakayoko, who impressed as Monaco won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, will become Chelsea’s third summer signing following Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger.

The Blues are also closing in on deals for Danilo and Alex Sandro and remain in the hunt for a striker to replace Diego Costa.

Lukaku had been their first choice but United beat them to the punch.

They are now considering moves to Alvaro Morata but have also been linked with Andrea Belotti and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Antonio Conte had been frustrated with the slow activity from Chelsea but the signing of Bakayoko would add a key component to his side for next season.
