LIZZY SPORTS ACADEMY WINS – UG SUPPORTERS UNION AND VANDASU SHAKES TO VICTORY

The Tertiary Students Supporters Union – Vandals and Associate Supporters Union (VANDASU) having members in the University of Ghana Supporters Union were invited to support the gallant boys of Lizzy Sports Complex, the academy owned by the retired French football legend Marcel Desailly.

The tournament which showcased brilliance and outstanding talents from the academy system raised the excitement of the game in the under 13, 15 and 17 levels. The competitive advantage Lizzy Sports Academy had was their excellent tactical discipline on the field and the ever cheering fans from both the UG Supporters Union and VANDASU.

The supporters union cheered the under 17 games with series of motivational and inspiring songs which enabled them to clinch the ultimate title. “This clearly shows that, without support from fans, teams will find it very challenging to win”. The Saturday win brought excitement to residence of East Legon and fans who came out to support the outstanding team.

The under 15 also followed the victory mantra by winning gold at the taunament.They played with passion and heeded to the tactical instructions of their coaching staff.UG Supporters Union and VANDASU were also there to support.

The final game, which brought massive suspense among fans when the under 13 team were down by a lone goal, the fans kept cheering them up. The opponent, a rather determined side took the lead with an impressive finish by their attacker. After the first half of the game, the rain begun drizzling which symbolized “showers of blessings”. The supporters stood in the rain, increased their tempo which brought more motivation to the boys and they equalized and added two (2) more goals. At the end of the final game, Lizzy Academy under 13 team also lifted the gold trophy.

Meanwhile, Marcel Desailly who played mostly as a defender and was a member of the France international squads that won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 graced the occasion as he presented the medals and trophy to the deserving team.
