COVID-19: 8 more deaths take fatality toll to 982, active cases 6,850

Eight more COVID-19 patients have died in Ghana taking the fatality toll to 982, the latest figures from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) indicate.

Some 423 new cases were also confirmed as of 20 August 2021.

The active caseload is currently 6,850.

The critical cases have fallen to 20 from 28 while the severe cases have dropped to 34 from 75.

Since mid-March 2020, Ghana has recorded a total of 115,525.

Of that number, 107,693 have recovered.

Regional breakdown:

Greater Accra Region – 61,882

Ashanti Region – 19,804

Western Region – 6,620

Eastern Region – 5,630

Central Region – 4,216

Volta Region – 3,926

Bono East Region – 2,233

Bono Region – 2,005

Northern Region – 1,699

Upper East Region – 1,340

Ahafo Region – 1,001

Western North Region – 947

Oti Region – 717

Upper West Region – 530

North East Region – 236

Savanna Region – 164
