C/R: 15 in critical condition after Gomoa Okyereko junction accident

Fifteen passengers are in critical condition while fourteen others sustained various degrees of injuries after three vehicles crashed in an accident at Gomoa Okyero Junction in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.


The accident involved a Toyota saloon car, a Kia Rhino truck, and a Sprinter Benz bus.

According to the police in the area, twenty-seven people were in the sprinter Benz bus, three in the Toyota salon car while two occupants were in the Kia Rhino

In an interview with Kasapa FM’s Yaw Boagyan, an eyewitness Kwabena Ebo said the Toyota salon car in the process of overtaking the Kia Rhino, collided with the sprinter Benz bus which also crashed with the other vehicle.

The accident happened Sunday, June 6 around 5:30 PM. Some of the victims were returning from a funeral.

Victims have been rushed to the Winneba Trauma Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Kia Rhino Augustine Baah said the accident could have been prevented if the salon car did not overtake wrongly.
