Ahafo Ano South: Three dead in fuel tanker explosion

A fuel tanker explosion at Onyina Nofo in the Ahafo Ano South West District in the Ashanti Region has led to the death of three people.

The incident which took place on Monday, May 24, 2021, was said to have burnt almost half the houses of the farming community.

Victims of the unfortunate accident were said to be the driver of the fuel tanker and his assistant, as well as a two-year-old boy who lived in the community.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred after the fuel tanker lost balance, skidded into the village and exploded in the process.

Speaking to Starr News, an eyewitness who is a cocoa farmer in the community said “personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service who brought the fire under control while briefing the media said, the community didn’t call them for rescue on time”.

Reports have it that, seven people who sustained various degrees of injuries have been sent to the hospital for emergency treatments.
