BE PART OF REVENUE MOBLILIZATION FOR THE ASSEMBLY- HON BOYE LARYE

The Municipal Chief Executive for Okaikwei North Hon. Boye Laryea has told Assembly Members that generating revenue for the municipality should be the key part of their capacity building training.

Hon. Laryea said it is worth nothing that revenue is the life line of every organization. It is expected that your various roles in boosting revenue generation will be clear to all

He was speaking at a two-day capacity building organized for Assembly Members at Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly Conference Hall, Tesano. The two day orientation was began on the 16 June 2020 and ended the following day 17 June 2020.

Present at the orientation were the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Boye Laryea, Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Samuel Amoah, Mac Numbo Boye, ESQ, Nnabili Mohammed Iddrisu, Chief Executive Office of Nabson Consult Limited.

In all ten Assembly Members and four government appointees took part in the capacity building training.

Hon. Laryea explained: “I deem it a pleasure to welcome all to the orientation of our honorable assembly members; you will be taken through the decentralization and local governance systems in Ghana, functions of the assembly identification, mobilization and generation.”

According to the hon. Boye Laryea: “Indeed the local governance Act 2016 (Act936) defines decentralization as the process where the central government transfers responsibilities and functions to the metropolitan, municipal and the district assemblies, and the sub structures that are democratically elected and appointed”.



These assemblies are democratic institutions and structure that exercise authority or carry out government functions at the local level.

He added that: “The local governance Act 2016 explains the functions of the assembly into three words, the legislative, executive and deliberative functions”.

The Municipal Chief maintained that: “The legislative functions of the assembly include the enactment of by –laws to regulate the conducts of the assembly. The executive on the other hand takes care of the day to day administration of the assembly, which includes taking decision at meetings and implementing them”.

He stated: “The deliberative function includes the discussion of very important policies and accepting inputs of the local people in decision making.
