NPP and Bawumia’s second half into the polical game, 2020….

The Vice President, Dr Mahamud Bawumia’s inordinate attacks on Fmr. Prez Mahama can be likened to a football player who is made to specifically concentrate on ensuring that a particular player doesn’t score in a match. Unfortunately, after a successful first half attacks, that particular player goes on to score a goal in the second half of the game.

The Vice President nefariously made an illusive comparison between an economy during the “dumsor” crises and that of the current ” COVID-19″ .

Unfortunately, he seeks to compare the one that only affected jobs and businesses to the one that is threatening and claiming the lives of citizens. These two crises are incomparable, especially so when the later puts the lives of the entire global community under serious threat.

It is conspicuously depict, that, Dr. Bawumia comes out inconsequentially to speak, only when he is robotically made to attack Mahama.

Mahama’s presence in the polical arena seems to be sending shivers into the spine of Nana Addo and his NPP government, especially when he comes out to speak on the economy. His recent comment on the state of the economy under COVID-19, though generally patriotic, has possibly awaken the government on the state of affairs.

The 2016 election was first half, where the final second half of the game shall be played on December 7th, 2020. In 2016, Dr. Bawumia was specifically assigned to tackle Mahama so he doesn’t score (win). In fact, Dr. Bawumia was successful in 2016 due to quite a number of factors, including deception, damages on Mahama’s personality and a number of unrealistic campaign promises ( 1D1F, 1V1D, 1 million per constituency, building of 350 Secretary schools). He also accused Mahama’s administration of excessive borrowing, claiming they were not going to engage in what he described as ” reckless borrowing”. He actually succeeded in cajoling Ghanaians by quite a number of public economic lectures.

December 7th, 2020 on the other hand, is not going to be based on who can rattle and deliver series of economic lectures, or who makes more promises.

Basically, December 7th, which is going to be the final second half of the game played from 2016, will be very competitive, especially when the two candidates involved have been Presidents for their first term and now seeking to be elected for their second term.
It is going to be based purely on track records, that is, Mahama4 vrs Nana4.

This time, Ghanaians definitely would not be cajoled into yielding to deception and promises as usual of Bawumia and the NPP. Judgement between the two “Polical Giants” shall be who did well within the four mandate in managing the various segments of the economy. Bawumia’s standard for measuring an economy shall be deployed and used in this year’s election, that is, whether or not the fundamentals are weak relative to the previous and current administrations. It’s understandable fact that exchange rate shall be used as the litmus.

Finally, Bawumia must understand that his relevance in NPP is only when he attacks Mahama and not the impact he makes on the economy. As head of government’s economic management team, what has been Dr Bawumia’s impact in ensuring that there is microeconomic stability? Is it not clear that he has failed in managing our economy as he portrayed himself in 2016 as the economic Messiah who was coming to rescue us from economic hardship ? Can our local currency be said to be gaining strength comparative to the dollar under his able leadership? Which government in the fourth republic has so far borrowed excessively and recklessly? Clearly, Bawumia has a lot of questions to answer as leader of government’s economic management team. He must focus on the very purpose that he was made to head Nana Addo’s economic management team rather than attacking Mahama.
Mahama will be unstoppable on December 7th, despite the number of players put around to tackle him. He will score classic goals in this final match.
