A Truck driver has died in a fatal accident on Teacher Mante-Nsawam stretch of the Accra to Kumasi Highway after veering off the road to avoid a head-on collision with a private vehicle which made a wrong overtaking.
The accident occurred Saturday evening on the same stretch where a Bus crashed with an Articulated Truck which led to the death of three with 31 others sustaining injuries at the dawn of that fateful day.
“Around 5:30 pm. There was a long vehicle fully loaded from Accra to Kumasi. There was a Car that was overtaking. So the driver of the truck with registration number GT 2769K-A had to veer off the road and got hit at the roadside. The driver died instantly but the mate got injured and we have sent him to Nsawan Government hospital”. Kwadwo Minta, a staff of the National Disaster Management Organization who was at the scene told Starr News.
The Private Vehicle reported to be a “big man” in the country but failed to stop.
Less than two hours later, an unregistered Vehicle speeding and overtaking several vehicles ahead of him veered off the road.
“An Infinity Vehicle from Accra was over speeding so as it got to between Kyekyewere and Beposo, there is a small curve there and he was overtaking so he met another Vehicle and he veered off the road. There were two persons on board and they have been rushed to the Hospital. The accident-prone happened at the same stretch where we recorded fatal accident cases on Saturday.”
