Former NPP Assin South Parliamentary aspirant goes independent

A Former Parliamentary Aspirant of the New Patriotic Party in Assin South Constituency, Joseph Kofi Damatse, has expressed willingness to go Independent in the 2020 elections due to some personal reasons.

According to him, delegates failed him by voting for someone who appeared from nowhere after he spent so much money in the primaries.

It will be recalled that this same Joseph Kofi Damtse, upon his defeat in 2015 parliamentary primaries in Assin South, failed to concede defeat and subsequently held series of press conferences where he stated in clear terms, his decision to contest 2016 election as an independent candidate.

WITHDRAWAL FROM ASSIN SOUTH PRIMARIES
Attention: All Delegates

I regret to inform you that I have withdrawn from Assin South NPP politics with immediate effect and will not contest again in the upcoming primaries. My reasons are because I have tried on 2 occasions and failed woefully. In the last primaries, to my utter shock and disappointment, the delegates disappointed me and voted for somebody who just appeared from no where. I lost a lot of money in that primaries and I’m not ready to lose another money this time. Especially when the sitting MP is doing everything for me to lose again.
These and other private reasons are the reasons why I have withdrawn from the primaries contest.

I shall soon hold a press conference to declare my intention to contest 2020 election as Independent Candidate.

Signed
Joseph Kofi Damtse
Former NPP Aspirant – Assin South
