When I say Akufo-Addo, say one term – Spio predicts NDC return in record time

National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful has predicted one-term tenure for the President Akufo Addo because of the “considerable hardship throughout the land”.

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, a former minister who is eyeing the same job as his former boss and former President John Mahama believes Ghanaians want the NDC back in record time.

The NDC lost the 2016 general election in record time after four years of the John Mahama administration. But facing some 10 other flagbearer aspirants, John Mahama has vowed to return to complete what he started.

Dr. Spio-Garbrah who is seeking to tear away from a crowded pack of aspirants told Joy News, he has propounded a new slogan to whip up enthusiasm for his party’s cause and incidentally his.
The communication expert has been critical of slogans adopted by the NDC. At his campaign for 2020 NDC flagbearer he said the popular ‘‘3y3 zu, 3y3 za’ is meaningless.

Another one ‘Ehey dzorbodor’ to wit, things are cool’, he said is unfit for rallying Ghanaians suffering hardship.
“You’re in opposition and you’re saying ‘ehey dzorbodor’, …. meaning things are cool. In the meantime you’re hot”

Beyond slogans, he said the NDC needs to be re-branded to shed off a negative image as a corrupt party foisted on it by their rival NPP.

The former Trade minister also clarified earlier comments made on Joy News’ AM Show suggesting he could be flagbearer to the favourite John Mahama,

“I am running this election not to be anybody’s running mate but to be flagbearer. The position of running mate has not been advertised by the party”
Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah is among five aspirants to lead the NDC into 2020 general elections who have been meeting to consider plans to ensure the party’s presidential candidate is not the frontrunner, former President John Mahama.
