STATEMENT FROM HON. DERICK OWUSU-AMBROSE, DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE, ASSIN SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY, ON THE OCASSION OF THE 58TH REPUBLIC/SENIOR CITIZENS’ DAY CELEBRATION, SUNDAY 1ST JULY, 2018.

Today marks exactly 58 years that Ghana was declared a Republic state among the commity of Republic Nations. It is a day Ghana took full charge of her own destiny. Aptly, it is also a day set aside to honour our senior citizens (both private and public practioners) who have contributed towards the development of our nation through their endeavours.

Throughout these years, our country has made significant strides in development particularly in the area of peace building and good democratic governance by successive governments. These and many more could be achieved under the Republican status.




Assin South District Assembly is pleased to salute all senior citizens within Ossinman and beyond who have contributed in diverse ways to bring development to the District as we commemorate this special day. The Assembly acknowledges and appreciates your legendary contributions towards the development of Assinman. Your tireless efforts and sacrifices towards the forward match of the District is recognized and appreciated.

To all senior citizens whom I’ve been interacting with and those I am yet to have the rear opportunity to meet since I assume office as the District Chief Executive, I would like to commend you for your good counsel . I will continue to rely on your wisdom and enormous experiences as we strive to make life better for our people.

As we mark this day, I call on all of us to continue to support His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the bold and decisive policies of the NPP government which is aimed at improving the standard of living of the ordinary citizens.

Congratulations to all senior citizens nationwide, particularly those in Ossinman.

I wish all of us Happy Republic and Senior Citizens Day.
