15 Market Women Hospitalised After Tamale Car Crash

More than 15 market women have been hospitalized at the Tamale Teaching hospital Emergency Unit after a car accident Monday night.

The accident occurred when their vehicle traveling from Buipe, Central Gonja District capital to Tamale spurt a tyre and crashed on the road.

There is no report yet of fatalities but three of the injured are in critical condition, Starr News’ Northern regional correspondent reported from the hospital.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Adisah, who spoke to Starr News couldn’t explain how the vehicle landed on the road but said she only heard people wailing for help.
Adisah had minor bruises on many parts of her body and was crying uncontrollably when they were brought to the hospital for treatment.

She said they were returning from the market when the accident occurred on the Tamale-Kintampo expressway just a few kilometers to the popular Damongo junction.

Adisah didn’t know what caused the tyre burst but other sources said the driver was over speeding and lost control.

The fate of the other passengers including the driver is unknown.
