Gov’t to scrap taxes on lotto – NLA

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) will soon scrap the tax on the 20 percent commission it charges its operators.
The NLA will also scrap the taxes that lotto winners pay on their lump sum, according to the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) Kwaku Osei-Ameyaw has disclosed.
The move, according to him, is part of efforts to rope in more people into the lottery sector and increase government earnings.

Mr. Osei-Ameyaw, who made this known Tuesday July 25, 2017 at an ongoing stakeholder forum to streamline the activities in the sector , announced that the project will be piloted for two years before a thorough review.
“What we are saying is that we sent a proposal to the Ministry of Finance to scrap the taxes on your commission,” he told the forum adding, “this will broaden the sector and make it profitable to all.”
