How Man Utd ace Anthony Martial announced himself against Liverpool

THIS is the moment Manchester United ace Anthony Martial announced himself to the Premier League.
Martial was a surprise deadline day arrival to Manchester United back in September 2015 and it didn’t take long for the Frenchman to make a name for himself at Old Trafford.

United paid a whopping £36million for the then 19-year-old forward, the highest fee paid for a teenager breaking the previous record of £27m United splashed out for defender Luke Shaw.

His first taste of playing on the Old Trafford hallowed turf came during their clash with arch-rivals Liverpool.

And Martial was quick to find his shooting feet when he was called into action by then Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal.
The Frenchman started on the bench against Liverpool however, he got his chance midway through the second half replacing Juan Mata in the 65th minute.

United were leading 1-0 thanks to Daley Blind’s 49th minute opener.

Ander Herrera doubled United’s lead with his 70th minute spot-kick before Christian Benteke’s stunning overhead kick six minutes from time added pressure to United and offered Liverpool a lifeline.
But Martial quickly made himself an instant hero by scoring United’s third of the afternoon two minutes later.

The Frenchman slalomed between Liverpool defenders Nathaniel Clyne and Martin Skrtel before slotting home in front of the Stretford End.

“When you make a goal like Anthony you cannot wish for more, I think,” Dutchman Van Gaal said of Martial’s strike.

“A lot of players have made a debut and scored with me so it’s a good signal.”
