Wassa Amenfi East MP Supports Best Performing BECE Students with Cash

The Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East Constituency in the Western region, Hon. Nicholas Amankwah has supported some best performing WASCE and BECE students in his constituency to begin their second cycle and tertiary education.

The Amenfi East Legislator, during last year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination, pledged to support Senior High School and Junior High School students who would attain an aggregate 6 to 15.

Speaking in his address at the 66th Ghana’s independence day celebration at Basanyin Basic School Park on Monday, the MP indicated that, this is in line with his vision to ensure that Students are motivated to make good grades.

The MP also pledged the Wassa Amenfi Paramount Chief of his readiness of reroofing the Basanyin Basic school to signify this year’s independence celebration at the school venue.

Some 4 selected best-performing students were given Gh¢1000 each, totalling Gh¢4000 from the MP’s personal funding, as an initiative by the MP to improve BECE results in the constituency.

All the students had gained admission to various senior high tertiary schools in the country.

Hon. Nicholas Amankwah also awarded hardworking teachers in Amenfi East.

The two awardees received a brand new laptop each and certificate.

The award scheme seeks to honour outstanding teachers for their exemplary performance and ground-breaking work that have affected and transformed the lives of learners.

According to the MP who is popularly known as Home Boy, the pupils knowing that the MP will commend them when they pass well, will encourage them and also those who are yet to write their BECE next year to do it well.

Hon. Nicholas Amankwah also commended the Amenfi East Education directorate for the arrangements done concerning selecting the best students from the municipality.

Some of the students in a sideline interview expressed their gratitude to the honourable MP for his continued support of education in the municipality.
