Fuel: ₵100 got 8 gallons under Mahama but gets only 2 under Akufo-Addo – Akamba

The National Organiser of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Joshua Akamba, has lamented the economic hardship in the country, saying GHS100 could buy eight gallons of fuel under President John Dramani Mahama but can now only buy two gallons under President Akufo-Addo.

Speaking on Accra100.5FM’s morning show Ghana Yensom hosted by Kwame Obeng Sarkodie on Thursday, 21 April 2022, Mr Akamba said the current economic crisis is not complimentary of Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia.

“This is what the Economic Messiah and the head of the economic management team, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia has done to Ghanaians”, he noted.

Sharing his own personal experience, Mr Akamba said: “I live around the Cantonments in Accra and my office is at Asylum Down and I spend GHS100 on fuel every day and if you juxtapose that with the minimum wage of 13.5 x 30 days, how much is that?”

He argued that people are paying more than necessary for fuel under President Akufo-Addo.

“This government is just wicked and that is all I can say,” he lamented.

He explained that drivers are spending a lot of their minimum wage on fuel alone leaving school fees and other things to suffer.
