NPP’s delegates’ conference in K’si was a Covid spreader – NDC MP

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Constituency Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed says the 2021 National Annual Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the weekend was a Covid spreader.

“What they did there was a Covid spreader,” he stressed, accusing the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, of leading the spread.

He said it was disgraceful that when the country is battling the vagaries of the deadly viral disease, the ruling party will congregate at a point for a conference without any advocacy on the prevention of coronavirus.

The NPP held its conference at the Heroes Park in Kumasi to deliberate, among others, on amendments to its constitution.

The conference saw the crème de la crème of the NPP gathering at the venue to “take stock”.

Over 6,000 delegates were estimated to have attended the event.

Before the conference, Presidential Advisor on Health Dr Anthony Nsia Asare warned delegates who are unvaccinated that they would not be allowed entry to the venue.

Speaking on TV3‘s New Day on Monday, December 20, the Tamale Central MP said his party’s arch-rivals only went to Kumasi to mock Ghanaians in the face of “hardship” occasioned by Covid ahead of the Yuletide.

He said the conference was laced with indiscipline on the part of leadership including President Akufo-Addo.

He expressed sadness that not a single mention was made by the speakers at the conference on the impending wave of Covid-19 in Ghana.

For him, they only went there to be spread the virus “and this Covid spread was done by no other person than the president”.
