Newly launched Tonyx Hotel leads charge to revive hospitality industry

Ghana’s hospitality and tourism sector has received a major boost following the launch of Tonyx Hotel, suites and spa.

The new state of the art facility located in Koforidua sits in the heart of Ghana’s tourism hub connecting to the beautiful sites and scenes which has made the Eastern region a much loved getaway spot for many, both local and foreign alike.

Ghana like many other tourist destination sites has suffered a great deal from the global pandemic which has left many economies struggling. Already the sector has lost over 171 million dollars between March and June this year as a result of the pandemic. The restrictions on movements and forced lockdowns have affected the operations of all hotels with the calls for government assistance still active despite the state’s 600 million cedis stimulus package.

President of the Ghana Hoteliers Association in a recent interview to Starr news, revealed the hotels are yet to receive any funds some 5 months after the package was announced. Although government is yet to respond directly to the concerns, it has however opened the country’s air borders to the rest of the world. This move has been described by many sector watchers as pivotal in helping the economy get back on its feet, particularly for persons in the tourism and hospitality space.

This according to CEO of newly launched Tonyx Hotel Suites and Spa, Eugene Asiamah provides the perfect opportunity to revive the sector. Speaking to Starr business after the launch of the executive hotel located in the heart of Koforidua, Mr Asiamah revealed the hotel had been preparing for the planned reopening of the country’s borders.

“We had been waiting for a while to have the facility opened. While the borders were closed, we put in place a number of strategies to capitalize on when the borders are eventually opened. And now that the airports have been opened, I will say we are more than ready to offer customers the very best of service.”

He told Starr business, the location for Tonyx is strategic as they aim at leveraging on the many tourist attraction sites in the region both to their benefit and that of the country. ‘We plan on picking the people straight from the airport and bringing them here. We have made the necessary arrangements such that once they touch down; we chauffeur them directly to this place and offer them the needed service they will remember for a lifetime. And it won’t just end there but we want them to experience the various tourist attraction sites in the region.’

The newly launched hotel has over 50 executive rooms, a huge corporate board room with a cozy pool area primarily targeting all persons who want to have fun and catch a cruise…
