NHIA: Seven executives test positive for COVID-19

The National Health Insurance Authority has asked staff at it Head Office with underlying health conditions to stay home after eight of its executives including the CEO Dr Lydia Dsane-Selby tested positive for Covid-19.

The company is also barring persons who do not work there from entering the premises.

This comes after a Starr News exclusive that revealed the Coronavirus status of these executives.

Among the executives who have reportedly tested positive are Deputy CEO Finance and Investment, Deputy CEO HR and Admin. and Deputy CEO Operations.

In April this year, the NHIA stirred controversy after it donated GHC 250, 000 into the Covid-19 trust fund. The move attracted criticisms from health service providers who were still owed by the authority. The CEO of the NHIA subsequently defended that donation.

Starr News understands that shortly after this brouhaha, Dr Dsane-Selby’s contract was extended and the Health Ministry reportedly organised a party for her to mark her 60th birthday celebration.

It is believed that the party was the catalyst for the spread of the disease among the top executives.

Starr News’ Musah Lansah who visited the premises of the NHIA today reports that indeed notices have been posted on the wall of the NHIA building.

The statement according to him was clear that visitors were not allowed into the building until further notice.

A staff who gave his name as Quaye after he was refused entry explained that the decision was made to protect their staff from further contracting the disease.

He further explained that persons who wish to do business on the premises must call the officials and get an appointment.
