The Hard Truth

The Hard Truth

John was very optimistic he would go home after a hard day’s work and meet his meal well served on the table. Upon getting home, he saw the wife lying in the couch wrapped with a cloth from head to toe. John called the wife “Sweety am home”, and looked straight at the dinning table but found nothing. He angrily went straight to the wife and spanked her, calling her harshly, saying all kinds of abusive words to her naively, yet the wife just looked at him without uttering a word. He became alarmed and lowering his tone, asked ” Sweety what’s wrong with you?”.The wife then explained to him politely the ordeal she’d gone through when they left for work which made her come home earlier than normal. Now he had become aware that she was severely sick and couldn’t do her normal house chores. The house was not in normal times, everything had changed, John had to know, understand and adapt to the new changes the inconveniences had brought them. Because the husband didn’t prepare for what had happened, he started complaining bitterly for he found it difficult to accept that, he had to go to work, close early, come cook and look after the wife as she was ill. The wife (Hannah) upon seeing the stress the husband went through daily to keep the house and control the situation at hand, became worried and started trying to take over and assist the husband even though she was ill. She managed to cook and keep the house whilst the husband was away but couldn’t complete the house chores like she used to, food also didn’t taste sweet like when she was strong and healthy yet she tried. John comes home complaining as to why food isn’t tasty and the place is not well organized, he yells and verbally abuses Hannah. Hannah decides to stop and let John do it himself. John comes home, complains and jabs Hannah. What’s the state of Hannah now?

In comparison to the opening subject matter, that’s the state of our country Ghana now. The President(Nana Addo) is Hannah and the Clergy and the Church is John the husband.
COVID 19 or whatsoever it is, caught us unawares and unprepared. It has brought lapses and huge challenges to the entire nation. It’s challenging and frustrating how things are. The government has to quickly sit down and put measures in place to make sure things will be under control so things do not escalate and get out of hands. The measures affected every institution, organization as well as the Church of God. How did the church react and accept the decisions put in place?
The government was lambasted, criticized, insulted etc by many including some clergy and the churches. Some did it openly whilst others did it secretly by hiding behind the pulpit. Some clergies are belligerent to HE the president.
Now upon hearing, seeing and going through all that was thrown at him. He decides to grant the wishes of many gradually including the churches and the clergy with easing restrictions so as to help or assist just as Hannah did for John. But what do we see now? The complains, criticism, jabbing, lambasting and insults still persist from same people. Then why did we complain or say all that to HE the president for taking those initial decisions and putting out those measures? Why! Why!! Why!!!.

Some churches are now still circulating letters out there, telling their members church is still not opened and remains closed even though the government has lifted the ban with easing restrictions so to assist, just like Hannah did for John. What’s the state of HE the president of Ghana now? Is he disappointed? If yes, will he be able to openly say it as we did to him?
I in my opinion will say a big Yes that he’s disappointed but he won’t say it openly like we expressed it.
Why do I say so, when he closed the church, the clergy and the church lambasted the government heavily, some were threatening and criticising the government of Akuffo Addo, now he has opened church with easing restrictions so the church can start having fellowship small, small gradually until further notice, there I see some churches circulating letters of not wanting their members to come and still church remain closed. Now I ask,
Why Was The clergy and the church complaining, murmuring, criticising and lambasting the government for taking the decision of closing the church initially? That’s hypocrisy to me.

Sometimes I sit down and think how and what the church of God today is becoming. So many issues here and there which affects the image of God and his church, giving way for any mere person outside the faith to speak evil of the church and criticize it heavily. What are we doing to stand, fight and stop this from happening to the body of Christ. We are declining gradually. Where is the fire of the olden days we claim we have received, where are the Pauls, Peters and Stephens who stood firmly, fought with all their might to defend, protect and rescued the church and the body of Christ for us to this day of our time. Who’s ready to do so?, where are the intercessors of the church?. Let’s wake up for the battle is becoming hot.

Its about time the clergy and the church acted in revelational knowledge and wisdom more than we have from above, in its dealings. So we don’t pave way for those who don’t understand and share our faith, to have a basis to ridicule the church of God, and subjecting it to mockery.
The president, HE Nana Addo is disappointed in a way but he can’t and he won’t say it.
Let’s ask ourselves.
Will he be able to stand by us, fight and protect our interest very well again if something should happen to the church?
