How Atta Mills ‘visited’ Allotey Jacobs in ‘white apparel, black shinny shoes’ over NDC suspension

In an interesting turn of events, former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Bernard Allotey Jacob has gone back on his words of continuing his media activities to bow to the pressure and demands from the party.

The NDC last week announced a boycott of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show over what it said was an “unfair panelling system that the production team of the programme has continuously foisted on the NDC over a number of months”.

The party further said that “the reason for this boycott has to do with the unreasonable decision of the producers and host of the programme to permanently reserve one of the two slots the party has traditionally had on Wednesdays on the show to Mr Allotey Jacobs, who is often introduced by the host of the programme as a ‘social commentator with strong leanings to the NDC”, ostensibly to spite the NDC”.

The party also in a separate statement signed by Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said it has suspended Allotey Jacobs for “persistent anti-party conduct”.

But Allotey Jacobs insisted that he had done no wrong and will continue to honour invitations by media houses to speak on issues as a ‘social commentator”

However, there has been a sharp U-turn in Allotey’s earlier resolve as he has confirmed his resignation from the Kokrokoo show.

According to him the decision to ‘sacrifice himself’ was not only necessitated by counsel from close relatives and politicians but also a strange experience with former President John Evans Atta Mills.

Unable to explain whether it was a trance or a dream, Allotey said the late President visited him in a white apparel and black shoes and advised him to heed to the demands of the party for peace to prevail.

“Last four days, my elder Professor Mills visited me. I don’t know whether it was a vision or dream but around 11 o’clock on Sunday, I saw this man in a white sparkling white apparel and black shoe. He asked me to escort him to his sister’s place. Just when we were getting close to his sister’s house, he asked that we return.”

“When we were going back, I realized that his black shoe has become like shining shoes of the army officers and the laces have loosened up. I wanted to tighten them but he told me I’m not the right person to lace his shoes. So, after lacing his shoes and we were going, he told me Allotey, I’m leaving you with this message. Don’t give room for them to say that… and that was all. I didn’t see him again” he narrated.
