We could’ve made more money from ‘Bronya’ – Wutah Kobby

A former member of music duo Wutah, Kobby, has said in a recent interview that they could have made more money from their banger ‘Bronya’.

When he was asked in an interview with Nana Tuffour on Citi TV’s Saturday Live whether they made money from the song, he said: “…we could have made more, actually.”

The group released ‘Bronya’ and a few other songs after they re-united in 2017

The song topped a lot of chats in the country and won Highlife Song of the Year award at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

However, reports suggest that the group still had issues when they released the song. There were even absent at some shows they were billed to perform at the time when the song was at its peak.

A few months ago, Wutah Kobby broke the news that the group had broken up again.

“The duo Wutah is never coming back again. Wutah is over. We are done. I have made my stance and I don’t want anybody to ask me any questions. And I want people to know that Wutah Kobby is a solo artist and a brand and so shall it be and remain,” he said.

He added that he has been working hard to make his songs and get his hits but if anyone is interested in his shares in the brand Wutah, he is open for negotiations.

Wutah came into the limelight in 2004 when it contested for the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra and came second to Praye. The name Wutah is a Hausa word which means fire.

Their debut album, ‘Anamontuo’ which has songs like ‘Adonko’, ‘Goosie Gander’ and ‘Big Dreams’ earned them eleven nominations including The Most Popular Song of the Year, Album Of the Year and Artiste of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

In 2009, they separated and started recording their solo projects. Afriyie has released a song like ‘I Do,’ ‘Love of My Life,’ ‘Tontonti,’ ‘Everlasting Love’ and ‘Here to Stay.’ Kobby also released songs like ‘Chiochio,’ ‘Pii Por Pii,’ ‘Warning,’ and ‘Father for All.’

He is currently out with ‘If I Get’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Yennye Y’ani.’
