Police CID mixing facts to create confusion – Afenyo Markins

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Effutu Central Constituency, Alexander Afenyo Markins says the Ghana Police Service is mixing facts to create confusion over the on-going Ofosu Ampofo case and needs to come clear in its communication.

Mr Afenyo-Markins’ comments follow an invitation extended by the CID boss, Maame Tiwah Addo-Danquah, to Mr Ampofo on May 8, 2019, in which she stated among other things, that her outfit was inviting Mr Ampofo as part of investigations into the kidnappings and fire outbreaks.

Speaking on Adom TV‘s Badwam show, Mr Afenyo-Markins said the Police needed to do due diligence to its communication on the series of events unfolding in the country.

“The Ghana police must wake up and they must be clear in their communication because they are only mixing facts to create confusion,” he noted.

“They always want to use languages which are sometimes difficult to understand; what do they mean by Ofosu Ampofo Coming to assist in investigations?”

“You either tell him he is a suspect or a witness but not to say his name has been mentioned and that he is to come and assist investigations; he comes as what”, he quizzed.

He has, however, urged the NDC Chairman to honour the invitation of the CID Boss.

“If I were the NDC, I wouldn’t have allowed media noise on this invitation; I would have honoured and inquired of who mentioned my name before coming back to the law,” he said.
