Shooting@NDC Office: 'We know the killers', National leadership told us to 'shift blame' - Kwame Zu

The National Democratic Congress [NDC] Ashanti Regional Secretary, Kwame Zu has been allegedly captured on tape claiming that the party knows the man who pulled the trigger leading to the death of one person and the injuring of another at the Kumasi office of the NDC on Monday afternoon.

Kwame Zu was heard in an alleged audio circulating and available to Peacefmonline.com that the killer is a member of the party’s vigilante group, ‘The Hawks’ – but his party National leadership has asked the party to tell a different story.

He also assured that the police will hunt for the killer and his accomplice down.

He made this revelation in a phone interview with a man who only introduced himself as Abu and the brother of the man who was killed at their party headquarters.

“Police know them and will arrest them today(Monday) . . . We know them and we will arrest them as soon as possible,” he said while pleading with Abu.

The alleged brother of the deceased, Abu, who had a trembling voice and was speaking from Accra wondered why the NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary, Kwame Zu was heard saying the ‘The Hawks’ did not kill his brother.

In response to why he (Kwame Zu) was shifting the blame, he said “My brother I’m pleading with you, it is the work of the party, national says we should say it that way. I’m pleading with you my brother . . . I’m pained than you . . . ,” Kwame Zu was heard pleading with the alleged brother of the man killed on Monday.

Four (4) Suspects Named by Ashanti Region Police

The Ashanti Regional Police has launched a manhunt for four people suspected to be involved in the shooting that took place in Kumasi at the regional office of the National Democratic Congress.

In an interview with Peace FM News, the Acting Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, explained that the four suspects who are believed to be behind the attack, are alleged to be part of an NDC vigilante group, ‘Hawks’.

“The suspects who are currently on the police wanted list include Husein Barnabas, also known as Warrior; Mijima, Damos, and Abu Taliban,” he stated.

This search comes after some executive members and supporters of the NDC were attacked at the regional office in Kumasi, on February 18, during a high powered meeting of both some national and regional executives of the party.

He added that the police were working closely with party officials to apprehend the suspects.
