Stanbic Bank, two companies pledge GHC2m to support KATH

Stanbic Bank has donated an amount of Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHC50,000) to support Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to build needed facilities as the second largest health facility in the country after an appeal by KATH Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Ohenaba Owusu-Danso.

“I also like to express our gratitude to the Managing Director of K. Badu Chemicals Limited for pledging one million Ghana (GHC1m) towards execution of critical facilities at the hospital”, the CEO announced at the launch of the facility’s Endowment Fund held at Golden Bean Hotel.

According to Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, Dr. Kwaku Oteng of the Angle Group of Companies has also pledged to raise GHC500,000 towards the acquisition of ventilators for the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

“And for this, we are most grateful” the elated KATH CEO revealed in his speech delivered at the official launch of the fund.

According to Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, given the enormity of the challenges, KATH’s Board however has decided on two main strategies as a way of addressing equipment and infrastructure deficit at the hospital.

“The first one was to ensure a more prudent generation and use of the hospital’s Internal Generated Funds (IGF) and secondly to establish Endowment Fund to help mobilise the needed resources to address some of the operational challenges”, he stated.

“Whilst it is evident that the Hospital’s Board and Management are doing their best to address some of these challenges, it is obvious that IGF of the alone cannot resolve all the operational bottlenecks facing the hospital”, the CEO pointed out.

The Trustees Board of the Endowment Fund headed by the CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. K.K. Sarpong therefore gave out the following bank accounts and mobile money shortcodes for support.

Fidelity Bank Account No: 13000318148; MM Code: *776*100#-111
