Presbyter dies after alleged sex act

A 60-year-old elder of the Ascension Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Koforidua was found dead in a room hours after he had lodged into a guest house at Aboabo, near Nkurakan in the Eastern Region, last Tuesday.

The man, whose name has been given as William Osae-Ansah, a treasurer of the church, is said to have lodged into the Susu Sei Me Guest House about 9.30 a.m. with a 40-year-old woman who is also a member of the church.

According to the police, information they had received so far indicated that hours after Osae-Ansah had lodged into the guest house, the woman, who was in the man’s company, rushed to the front desk to report that the man had become unresponsive.

Report

The Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ebenezer Tetteh, said the owner of the guest house, Mr William Adu Afari, then reported the incident to the police.

Following the report, DSP Tetteh said, the Crime Scene Management Team of the Ghana Police Service and the complainant proceeded to the guest house to verify the truth or otherwise of the report.

He said initial inspection of the premises of the guest house confirmed Mr Adu Afari’s report, but the police did not find any mark of violence on late Osae-Ansah’s body.

Identity

Various forms of identity, including a health insurance card, a driver’s licence and a voters ID card, found on him identified him as William Osae-Ansah, the treasurer of the Ascension Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Koforidua.

The body of the late Osea-Ansah was deposited at the Koforidua Regional Hospital morgue for preservation and post mortem.

Meanwhile, the woman at the centre of the case has turned herself in to the police, but she has been released because, according to the police, a post mortem conducted on Osae-Ansah by the Koforidua Central Hospital has shown that he died of cardiac arrest and hypertension.
