Mohamed Salah: WATCH fans in Cairo celebrate Liverpool star’s stunning opener against Roma

MOHAMED SALAH barely celebrated when he fired Liverpool in front against Roma in the Champions League this evening.

That can’t be said for the Liverpool fans watching the Champions League semi-final in his native Egypt however.

Mohamed Salah gave the Reds the lead on 35 minutes with a stunning strike after picking the ball up on the edge of the box.

The Egypt international whipped in a curled effort beyond goalkeeper Alisson that struck the underside of the bar as it rippled the net.

Salah’s celebrations were muted in respect to his former side but the scenes in Cairo were anything but quiet.

Footage doing the rounds on social media shows Liverpool fans sitting down watching the match on television inside a bar in Egypt’s capital.

But as Salah’s shot rifles past Alisson, the supporters jump to their feet in wild celebrations.
The camera pans to show supporters jumping with joy and hugging one another with some in shock at what they just witnessed.

Salah went onto score another just 10 minutes later before turning the provider with two assists for Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino as they ran out 5-2 winners.

But it was the 25-year-old’s first that had everyone talking – except Steven Gerrard who was lost for words at the strike.

“Wow,” he said at half time on BT Sport.

“I’m running out of words really.

“Two exquisite finishes. The first one, the accuracy in terms of knocking the stanchion off.

“And the second one, the double run at first to kid Juan Jesus the left centre-back.

“And then to get in and sit the keeper down with the calmness.”
