My rich man without character comment was misunderstood - Mzvee

Singer MzVee has courted widespread public outrage for her response to a question pertaining to a prospective partner during a recent Joy FM interview.

“I don’t know but he should be perfect and have 30 billion [a lot of money]”, she has told Showbiz A-Z’s Naa Ashorkor, who had inquired about what should make up her ideal man, further adding, “If he has money” character doesn’t really matter”.

The “Sing My Name” chanteuse has however, via a short video on social media insisted that her statements had been misconstrued. Pointing out that she is successful and independent in her craft, she clarified her “30 billion” utterance to meant that she sought a person who was ambitious and unintimidated by her feats.

She also stressed that character does play a role in picking a partner, as do other factors as religious orientation, and how the man treats a woman.

She concluded by saying that though people might find it controversial, money does play a role in relationships if one really has the future in mind, reiterating that it’s her opinion and she’s not forcing it on anyone.

Signed to Richie Mensah’s Lynx Entertainment, MzVee, 25, is author of three albums: DaaVee (2017) Re-Vee-Lation (2014), and Verified (2015). She’s a two-time BET honouree, and is recipient of several other laurels including VGMA awards for Unsung Artiste of the Year (2014), Best New Artiste Of The Year (2015), Best Female Vocalist of the Year (2016), GMH Best Female Artist Honour (2016) and a host of others.

Her recent song “Sing My Name” (featuring Patoranking) is out now.
