Problems With Digital Address System Being Fixed – Ghana Post

The acting managing director for Ghana Post James Kwofie has said the service is working with relevant stakeholders to resolve the concerns that have been expressed by Ghanaians about the digital address system so far.

Many Ghanaians including the President of IMANI Ghana Franklin Cudjoe have expressed frustrations about the system which was launched by President Akufo-Addo last week.

“Copying is not so hard. Copying to perfection is adding value. The Ghana Post app did the opposite. It must rectify what industry watchers have described as ” amateurish and an embarrassment to technology and innovation”. We shouldn’t hurry our President to be launching products that have not been properly verified. I hope the owners of the app make amends and apologise to the President,” the IMANI boss wrote about the application on Facebook.

Reacting to the concerns, Mr. Kwofie told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Monday that their team of IT specialists are working to improve the application.

“We are fixing the problem and I don’t think Ghanaians deserve an apology. The app has been around for 5 days and it’s still early days. All the relevant issues will be resolved. The technical team is still working hard to fix the challenges,” he said.
He also disputed claims that their data is not secured enough.

“As of today, it is only the Ghana Post that has access to the data. Checking our system yesterday, some of the allegations have not been substantiated. Within 48hours, we should have some updates and so most of the challenges will be addressed”.

Meanwhile, IT professional Divine Puplampu says the address application appears to have been rushed through.

“I think the Digital Addressing system was rushed. The government and those in charge should take their time and make the app the best in the world as we were promised. Looking at how some houses are built in Ghana, some neighbours may have the same digital address”.
