Young wants new deal

10:31: Ashley Young wants a new Manchester United contract after being named stand-in captain.

Young wore the armband as United beat CSKA Moscow 4-1 in the Champions League this week.

The 32-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season but he is hoping to get a new contract.

Young said: “It is exciting times here. And I want to be part of the success. As a footballer you want to win trophies and be part of a successful team. And for me Manchester United is that club.”

Aguero car crash

08:05: Manchester City have been dealt a huge blow with the news that Sergio Aguero been involved in a car crash in Holland.

Aguero will almost certainly miss Manchester City’s trip to Chelsea tomorrow (5.30pm), a crucial fixture at the top of the Premier League.

Early reports say Aguero could be out for up to two months after suffering suspected broken ribs.

City and Manchester United are joint-top of the Premier League on 16 points, with Chelsea third with 13.

Aguero has been a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, scoring six goals in his first six games.
Five signings

07:30: Manchester United have signed five teenagers from Huddersfield’s academy, according to the Daily Mail.

Huddersfield announced earlier this month their decision to downgrade their academy and scrap teams from Under-16 level and below.

While it was praised as a common-sense move at the time, it also left dozens of youngsters searching for a new club.

And it is reported United have moved quickly to snap up five of the former Terriers.




Pogba injury blow

06:10: Paul Pogba is reportedly set to be sidelined until after the next international break in November.

Pogba has been absent for United since he was forced off in the first half of their 3-0 Champions League win over Basel earlier this month.

And the Telegraph say there is now worries he could be missing for another five-and-a-half weeks.

It means he will be unavailable for around eight matches, including big games against Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea.
Lukaku claim

05:30: Martin Keown believes it will be difficult for anybody to stop Romelu Lukaku winning the Golden Boot this season.
Lukaku has made an instant impact at United since his big-money move from Everton in the summer

His two goals against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League earlier this week took his tally for the season to 10 goals.

And Arsenal legend Keown believes Lukaku will play a big part in determining whether United remain win the league.

“I said at the start of the season that Lukaku is the player who determines where the title goes,” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“I think it will be difficult for anyone to stop him winning the Golden Boot but let’s wait and see.”
