World Economic Forum on Africa opens in Durban

More than 1,000 participants are taking part in the 27th World Economic Forum on Africa in Durban, South Africa which opens today.
This year’s forum, which focuses on the theme “Achieving inclusive growth through responsive and responsible leadership”, will explore ways in which Africa can leverage on its technological revolution to achieve inclusive economic growth.




The three-day event has brought together leaders and business executive across the continent to also deliberate on pertinent issues facing the economies of Africa. South Africa plays host to the event, amid some economic and political upheaval in the country.
The downgrade to junk status, cabinet reshuffle and calls for the president to go, have dominated headlines in recent weeks. Co-chaired by Winnie Byanyima, CEO of Oxfam; Siyabonga Gama, CEO of Transnet; Frederic Lemoine, Chairman of Wendel; Rich Lesser, Global CEO of BCG; Ulrich Spiesshofer, ABB President & CEO, the World Economic Forum on Africa comes one year after the 2016 edition held in Kigali, Rwanda.
