THE PROBLEM OF AN ORDINARY GHANAIAN.

THE PROBLEM OF AN ORDINARY GHANAIAN.

POLITICAL PRINCE WRITES;

I am a young Ghanaian who really  wants to live and work with enthusiasm towards the attainment of a better Ghana; a Ghana that would be liberated from abject poverty, a consequence of economic mismanagement by  government of the day and the display of apathy towards development by some rich and powerful individuals in our country.

I have had the opportunity to travel across the length and breadth of our country;apparently,I spent the whole of last three weeks in Chereponi,trying to assist an NGO in executing a philanthropic task for the poor and vulnerable people of Chereponi.Sadly,I realised that out of the many common problems for the community,unemployment is outrageously high ,and my observations as well as personal interrogations with the people  uncovered the indubitable fact that, a lot of young children who should have been in school were out of school; their reason was that, Senior High School Education is no more affordable in our contemporary Ghanaian society.

I met Atuguba Richard ,19 year old ,and one of the many school dropouts who claimed expensive education and lack of employment intertwined with high prices of goods and services as well as hike in utility tariffs are what have made his parents unable to support his education.After I was introduced to Atuguba’s parents,I curiously asked, after they admitted that the reasons their child gave were authentic, that, I have encountered about 500 parents within the community who gave the same reason for their kids unavailability in school.so why did they not vote for Nana Akufo Addo so he could have implemented his free senior high school policy to help solve this problem pertaining to education?The parents, said, they were born into an NDC family ,and so were most of their neighbors who are entangled with poverty, and they were told to believe that Nana Addo’s free S. H. S was unattainable.I asked “so, have those who made you believe that free S. H. S was not achievable been able to provide at least an affordable one for you? “No! They replied. I watched them closely while tears started trickling on my cheeks; it was so pathetic!

One issue which seems to aggravate the above sad situation and makes me worried-sick is when the Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah,who comes from kwahu,stood before a huge crowd in the Northern Region and stated blatantly that, President John Mahama is a Northerner hence they should cast their votes in favor of him, from my discretion,the Chief of staff can be undoubtedly regarded as some one with no campaign policy that aims at resolving problems such as unaffordablity of education,high rate of unemployment and the likes,and has rather decided to mislead and incite the people against the other political parties who have laudable and innovative policies for not only Northerners but the entire citizenry Of Ghana, such policies as Nana Addo’s ONE DISTRICT-ONE- FACTORY.

I asked Atuguba’s parents whether inspite of the fact that, they were unemployed and incapacitated to paying their kids school fees,they wouldn’t consider Nana Addo’s ONE DISTRICT ONE FACTORY.Amazingly,his father stated clearly, that, this time round, they would choose the above policy over a policy called “VOTE FOR ME BECAUSE I AM A NORTHERNER,since the later is what has made his future, the future of his five children as well as the future of the the unborn kids of his children jeopardized.
