Tafo-Pankrono Attack: Deal Decisively With Delta Force – NPP To Police

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has charged the security agencies to decisively deal with some members of the Delta Force, a notorious vigilante group affiliated to it.

The notorious group over the weekend raided a meeting, the Monitoring and Evaluation Minister Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, who is also the Member of Parliament of Old Tafo was having with his constituents at Tafo-Pankrono, manhandling people at the meeting.

Dr Akoto Osei was whisked away to safety after the group inflicted mayhem on supporters who had converged for the gathering.

Reports say the group is upset over the numerous unfulfilled promises made to them by Dr Akoto Osei and the leadership of the party in the region.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has since arrested two members of the dreaded vigilante group over the incident.

The NPP in a statement condemned the action of the vigilante group, describing it as “highly unacceptable, unjustifiable and unfortunate regardless of their reasons.”

The statement added: “The use of force and violence particularly in internal party matters, is alien to the tenets of the New Patriotic Party and should have no place among us, especially under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has been a strong advocate of the rule of law.

“We call on the security agencies to deal decisively with this case without fear or favour.”

NPP CONDEMNS THE DISRUPTION OF TAFO- PANKRONO CONSTITUENCY MEETING

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongly condemns the violent disruption of a meeting between the Member of Parliament for Tafo-Pankrono, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei and his constituents on Sunday, October 7, 2018.

The action of the young men is highly unacceptable, unjustifiable and unfortunate regardless of their reasons.

The use of force and violence particularly in internal party matters, is alien to the tenets of the New Patriotic Party and should have no place among us, especially under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has been a strong advocate of the rule of law.

We call on the security agencies to deal decisively with this case without fear or favour.

The party is equally putting in measures to ensure that we nip these acts of violence in our internal party activities, in the bud.

We warn any group of persons who might be harbouring any of such intentions to advise themselves, since the party will not tolerate such behavior and will cooperate with the Police as we have always done.

We would again entreat our party members and supporters to at all times resort to laid down internal structures and procedures in seeking redress for their grievances and concerns.
