Man Utd star Paul Pogba handed BAN by club amid Jose Mourinho feud

MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba has reportedly been told not to speak to the media amid his ongoing war with manager Jose Mourinho.
Pogba and Mourinho have not seen eye-to-eye for the best part of a year but the situation has come to a head in recent weeks.

Pogba discussed the possibility of quitting Manchester United while away with France during the September international break.

The 25-year-old was then criticised by Mourinho for the part he played in the draw with Wolves – only to hit back by slamming the Portuguese’s tactics.
Mourinho responded by stripping Pogba of the vice-captaincy, dropping him against Derby in the Carabao Cup and clashing with him in training.
Pogba was restored to the starting XI against West Ham but suffered the indignity of being hauled off in the second half of the humbling 3-1 defeat.

Paul Pogba played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday night as United were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Valencia.

And it has been reported that he revealed post-match he has been banned from talking to the press amid the ongoing feud with Mourinho.



“I’m not allowed to,” Pogba told The Sun, when asked to discuss the Valencia stalemate.
Pogba’s revelation came after Jose Mourinho had used his programme notes to take a not-so-subtle dig at the Frenchman.

“All of my life, I have followed certain golden rules,” Mourinho wrote.

“One of them is that a team can lose matches — that is just part of football — but the team must never, ever lose its dignity.

“The team must fight, work, compete, win duels, be humble, and then at the end of the game every player must be exhausted because of the hard work they have given for the club, for the fans and for each other.

“That leads to another pair of golden rules which must be followed: the team is always more important than the individual, and the crest on the chest is more important than the name on the back of the shirt.
“This is me. This is how I work. This is what I ask of my team, my group, my club.”

Pogba and Mourinho’s battle has led to suggestions United will have to dispense with one or the other.

However, former United forward Dimitar Berbatov says that is not the solution.

“If you are a captain or vice-captain, you’re more often than not speaking on behalf of the players, and there is nothing wrong with giving the manager your thoughts,” Berbatov said.

“But this shouldn’t be done in the media – it helps nobody for these arguments to be played out in public. Apart from the media themselves of course!



“In modern football, players are very powerful, they are the stars of the show. It’s normal for them to have opinions, but they need to be backed up.
“I’m really surprised it has got to this stage. This sort of thing really needs to be kept in-house. You’re all grown-ups, figure it out in the dressing room.

“For Mourinho to have gone as far as removing the vice captaincy, Pogba must have provoked him – whether it was the comments after the Wolves game or something else. But these arguments affect everybody else and start having an impact on the pitch.

“As someone who wants Manchester United to do well, I’m fed up of waking up and seeing these headlines. Football should be about what happens on the pitch, not who has the biggest d***. It’s a stupid situation.

“I don’t think the solution to all this is for one or other to leave. Mourinho is one of the best managers in world football and Pogba is a great player, a World Cup winner, who is still young and will improve.

“If a player is not happy, they have the right to speak to the manager about it, and if they are not doing that, it’s strange. Teams need to win and lose together.”
