GTUC lecturers strike

Lecturers at the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) have declared an indefinite strike following government’s failure to constitute a governing council for the school.

According to faculty members, some decisions being taken by the Interim Management Committee have not benefited the university.

They have, therefore, suspended all academic activities in all the school’s campuses with immediate effect, until the government sets up the governing council to steer the affairs of the university.

The lecturers are also demanding the passage of the GTUC bill, which has been in a limbo since 2009, to regularise the university as a public institution.
