Man Utd news: Paul Pogba only joined United because of Mino Raiola – he had different plan

MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba only returned to Old Trafford from Juventus two years ago because of Mino Raiola – because he had a different plan for his future instead.
Manchester United signed Pogba from Juventus in the summer of 2016, with the France international returning to Old Trafford in a then world-record £89million transfer.

Two years on, however, and the 25-year-old continues to be linked with a sensational move away.

Express Sport understands Barcelona are intrigued by the prospect of bringing him to the Nou Camp, while Juventus are thought to be Pogba’s preferred move.

And the Manchester Evening News have now claimed that Manchester United were never the player’s ideal destination.
Two years ago, Pogba was being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Los Blancos had appointed his childhood idol, Zinedine Zidane, as manager mere months before.

Zidane wanted Pogba and, the MEN say, he was keen to move to the Bernabeu.

He saw himself wearing Real’s famous white shirt and playing under Zidane over in La Liga.

Yet Raiola, reportedly, convinced him to join United instead.
It is claimed the super-agent encouraged Pogba to make an emotional homecoming – instead of joining Real Madrid.

Yet, just two years on, another big transfer seems to be in the works.

Express Sport understands United are holding firm over Pigba.

There will be no January transfer, with other reports suggesting the player has made his peace with that.

But what happens in the future remains to be seen.
Pogba recently poured fuel onto the fire regarding his United future by hinting he could leave.

The World Cup winner said: “There was a lot of talk about it [a transfer] but it was like that.

“I am under contract at Manchester [United].

“My future right now is with Manchester. I have a contract.

“Currently, I play there, but who knows what will happen in the next couple of months.”
