Celtic transfer news: Marseille set to launch late swoop for £20m Moussa Dembele

CELTIC could be set to lose striker Moussa Dembele before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Frenchman is yet to feature for the club in the Scottish Premiership this season.

However, Dembele has been performing well in Europe, netting twice as Celtic beat Alashkert in a Champions League qualifying round earlier this summer.

The Hoops will demand around £20m for the striker, who has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Brighton in recent months.

But according to French outlet La Provence, Marseille may be ready to test Celtic’s resolve over Dembele.
The Ligue 1 side are prepared to part with close to £17m to land Dembele, which could be enough to tempt the Hoops into selling before next week’s transfer deadline.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wants new faces through the door after a rocky start to the season.

And Dembele and team-mate Dedryck Boyata may be sold to fund any new arrivals.

The former Fulham star scored 17 league goals during his first season and he followed that up with nine during the last campaign.
Marseille were hoping to lure Olivier Giroud away from Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

However, the Blues have already loaned out Michy Batshuayi, meaning the former Arsenal star is needed as backup.

Rodgers watched on as his side earned a 1-1 draw against FK Suduva in Lithuania on Thursday.

The Celtic boss hasn’t spoken out about the Dembele rumours but did give fans an update regarding wantaway defender Boyata.
