Arsenal news: Unai Emery sends message to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

ARSENAL boss Unai Emery has backed striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to start hitting the back of the net this season.
The Gabon forward is yet to score for the Gunners this season and has missed a host of guilt-edged chances in recent games.

Aubameyang fired over from close range during the first-half against Chelsea, and looks a far-cry from his former self.

But Arsenal boss Unai Emery has backed the former Borussia Dortmund striker to find his feet, insisting he just needs an early-season confidence boost.

“Aubameyang needs to find the confidence, then to score,” the Gunners boss said earlier this week.
“I know a lot of strikers in my career and it’s about the moment.

“They need the moment, and he’s the same.”

Arsenal fans are yet to see Aubameyang and strike partner Alexandre Lacazette played from the outset under Emery.

The Frenchman has also failed to find the net when coming off the bench in the previous two games.
But Emery believes all of his forwards just need time this season.

“I’m sure now that Aubameyang, Lacazette, Danny Welbeck, they will score more goals for us,” he continued.

“We need a little patience. But we scored [against Chelsea] with [Alex] Iwobi, who is also very good, and [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan also. The second line players did very well.

“But also the strikers, they are going to do more than other players. I want the first attacking player to be our goalkeeper and the first defender is the striker.
