Swansea City assistant manager Billy Reid has claimed Federico Fernandez is set to move to St James’ Park.
He said: “Fede has been here through pre-season and was excellent on Saturday but he is a player who sees future elsewhere, it is not settled yet but it looks like he will go to Newcastle.”

Fernandez is understood to be on his way to Newcastle to undergo a medical with the northeast side.
The deal to see the Argentina international leave the Liberty Stadium is expected to be in the region of £6m.

“Newcastle have made a last-gasp approach for AS Monaco left-back Jorge,” an excerpt of their report read.
“Our colleagues at Le 10 Sport understand that AS Monaco have received contact from Newcastle United for Brazilian left-back Jorge, who the Principality side are hoping to offload.
“The situation seems very complicated, Newcastle would only be able to do the deal as a loan.”
