Arsenal next manager: Unai Emery in London for talks to battle Mikel Arteta for the job

UNAI EMERY has travelled to London for talks with Arsenal chiefs, according to Guillem Balague.
The former PSG chief has emerged as a shock contender for the Gunners role over the weekend after weeks of speculation surrounding his future.

Emery left the French giants earlier this month after winning the Ligue 1 title in fine style, and his record in Spain and France has clearly attracted Arsenal chiefs since his Ligue 1 exit.

And Balague has revealed the Spaniard is already in England to meet club officials, despite Mikel Arteta seemingly closing in on the job.

And the Spanish football expert claims the Manchester City No 2 is still in contention for the Gunners role.
Emery boasts an impressive CV from his time around Europe.

While Sevilla boss, the 46-year-old led the Spanish side to three consecutive Europa League titles on a relatively small budget.

And over the weekend, the Daily Mail claimed Emery’s work at the modest La Liga side is the main reason he is being considered for the Arsenal role.

As for Arteta, his lack of managerial experience is worrying many Arsenal players and fans.
The Manchester City No 2 is expected to be backed by an expansive backroom team should he be appointed in north London.

Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira have also been considered for the role.

However, the latter appears to be close to agreeing terms with Ligue 1 side Nice.
