Jamie Carragher SACKED: TV pundit axed after spitting at Man Utd fan and 14-year-old girl

JAMIE CARRAGHER has been axed from a TV punditry gig as a result of his spit shame.
The Liverpool legend was due to assess Manchester United’s Champions League clash against Sevilla on Tuesday for TV3 Sport.

But bosses at the Danish channel have pulled Carragher from their line-up after he was filmed appearing to spit at a United fan and his 14-year-old daughter.

Carragher has phoned the family to apologise for his shocking actions.

But TV3 Sport executive director Peter Norrelund said: “It does not look good.

“He should have been at Old Trafford tomorrow for United-Sevilla, and we have chosen to sit over.

“We have sent an employee to Liverpool so we can get the story from the horse’s mouth.”
Carragher is expected for crunch talks with Sky Sports chiefs about his future.

Sky were quick to react to the incident, saying: “It’s unacceptable behaviour and we will be addressing it with Jamie.”

Carragher was spotted at London Euston Station this morning and revealed he would be in touch with the family again.

“I will speak to the family again today and I spoke to them last night,” he said.

“I apologised, of course [it was out of character].

“I’ll apologise again today.”

Carragher was in his vehicle when a United fan slowed down to goad him after Liverpoolslumped to a 2-1 defeat on Saturday.

A man is heard repeating the scoreline with his 14-year-old daughter in the back.

Carragher responded by spitting through the window.

The girl’s mother has slammed Carragher for his disgusting outburst.

“I was extremely angry and disappointed that he could even bring himself to do something like that. Looking at her, you know she is a child,” she said.

“What did she do wrong? She did not do anything wrong. Spitting at someone is the lowest of the low. It is disgusting.

“In all the years I’ve watched football, isn’t it all about banter?

“And he could not take that little bit of banter? It was nothing. I could understand if someone was in his face, giving him abuse.”

Former Wimbledon star Vinnie Jones has called on Sky Sports to sack “cowardly” Carragher.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “How has the lad driving not driven after Jamie, rammed him, dragged him out of the car and beat seven… you know what I mean?

“If someone spat at my daughter sitting in the car, I would have been after them.

“There is no sitting on the fence here, Jamie is down the road – down the job centre tomorrow.

“Spitting at 14-year-olds through a window? He is presenting on the TV. For Christ’s sake, he is supposed to be one of the top men.

“You can’t condone that whatsoever. It is filth, it is absolute filth.”
