AMCHAM GARIA Panel Discussion on Ghana’s Economy: From Stabilization to Growth

 

American Chamber of Commerce Ghana (AMCHAM) and the Ghana Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Advisors (GARIA) would be hosting a Panel discussion on Ghana’s Economy: Moving from Stabilization to Growth with experts drawn from the Business environment in Ghana.

The program is schedule on Friday 16, 2018, from 9:00am to 12:00pm at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

The AMCHAM – GARIA Collaboration Initiative is aimed at creating a platform for stakeholders in public, private dialogue to enhance the ease of doing business in the country.

On the Panel are: Dr. Henry Kerali, World Bank – Ghana Country Director, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, Board Chairman of Standard Charted Bank, and Ms. Ayesha Bedwei, Tax Partner at PwC Ghana. The Event would be moderated by Mr. Felix Addo, President of the GARIA.

According to the Association, the event would focus on the current state of the economy and future prospects, the tax outlook in Ghana and the Oil and Gas industry with the arrival of ExxonMobil.

Meanwhile, Ghana dropped from 108 in 2017 to 120 in 2018 out of 190 economies in the World according to the World Bank Ease of Doing Business 2018 reports.

Experts asserts that with the current improvement and streamlining of some of the activities using technologies especially easing access to registering businesses, getting credit, passing the Companies Bill and Insolvency Bill among others would positively impact the economy of Ghana. When initiated, experts believe it would leap forward Ghana to about 90 in the world and about 6 position in Africa which will attract investors in the country. Mauritius and Rwanda are ranked 1 and 2 in Africa as well as 25 and 41 in the world respectively.

The event forms part of the 3rd Edition of the collaborative event focused on “Enhancing the Ease of Doing Business” in Ghana.
