NPP has fulfilled 70 percent of key manifesto promises – MP

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker has said that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo deserves commendation for performing well in the first year of his administration.

According to the Legislator, Nana Addo has demonstrated his willingness to truly transform the country through the introduction of various innovative policies.

One of these policies, he said, is the free Senior High School (SHS) which has provided education free of charge for first SHS students.

Reviewing the achievements of the government in the first year, Mireku Duker said the government has fulfilled at least 70% of its key promises.

“If you look at our manifesto, we have been able to fulfill at least 70% of the key ones, free SHS and others are but examples…,” he said on Adom TV’s ‘Bedwam’ on Wednesday.

The President of the Republic assented to the Bill for the establishment of the Office of Special Prosecutor at a brief signing ceremony at the Flagstaff House, on Tuesday, 2nd January, 2017.

In the presence of the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, President Akufo-Addo also signed the Bills establishing the Zongo Development Fund, the Coastal Development Authority, the Middle Belt Development Authority and the Northern Development Authority.

These bills, according to President Akufo-Addo, are “some of the most important elements of the New Patriotic Party’s (2016) manifesto, upon which we were elected into office”, and “have now found legislative expression.”

The passage of these four bills into law by the President, Mireku Duker added communicates how prepared Nana Addo is to continue to work to transform the country.

He was hopeful the government will start allocating funds to the Development Authorities for them to execute their mandates and transform the various sectors.

He thus called on Ghanaians to continue to believe in the Akufo-Addo-led administration to deliver the best to Ghanaians.
