Akufo-Addo’s ministers have lost track – Abraham Koomson

The General Secretary of the Ghana Federation of Labour(GFL) Abraham Koomson has said some ministers of the Akufo-Addo government are oblivious of the President’s agenda and aspirations.

According to him, several of the ministers don’t act in sync with the president’s objectives.

“Whereas he’s heading towards Takoradi, some of his ministers are reversing to Ashiaman and Adjei Kojo. They’ve lost track, they don’t know where the President is going. His excellency wears African print these days and we admire it, his Vice too is doing the same thing. What message is he conveying to people, he wants to encourage patronage of local products, he wants to help industries to grow and so if your minister is looking at the other side of the road, he’ll stand there and car will knock him…he doesn’t care.

It’s unfortunate, we want His Excellency to carry along his ministers, he shouldn’t leave them behind,” Mr Koomson told Starr FM.

Meanwhile, Mr Koomson who’s also the General Secretary of the Textile, Garment and Leather Employees’ Union (TEGLU), the General Secretary of the Ghana Federation of Labour(GFL) has urged government to brace itself for a turbulent time on the labour in 2018, predicting that series of demonstrations will rock the country.

According to him, despite several promises from politicians to improve a lot of industry, little has been done to alleviate the pressure under which industries have been reeling over the past few years.

“If the industries collapse we’re in trouble, so whatever any politician in power will do to help the industry to grow that will be okay. But they’re talking too much, everyday talking, talking, the promises are too much but there’s no commitment. This year, if we’re not careful demonstrations will overwhelm everybody in this country. I foresee demonstrations happening.”

Though he believes President Akufo-Addo may not be aware of some of the teething problems facing industries,Mr Koomson said that’s the only medium through which they can state their case and seek redress.
